WHY I'M RUNNING
I came to the decision to run for Bay County Treasurer in 2020 for many reasons, but first and foremost because I am - and have always been - a person who is drawn to helping others and someone who is committed to being an active, engaged participant in my community. The opportunity to serve as County Treasurer allows me to do both these important things, and my background in finance, law and county government allows me to do them well. As County Treasurer, I can directly serve the public and have a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of Bay County residents.
The role of County Treasurer is multifaceted but has two primary responsibilities - serving as the custodian of all County funds and collecting delinquent taxes. In addition to these two major functions, the Treasurer serves as the Chair of the Bay County Land Bank and as Trustee of the Bay County Employees' Retirement System.
Since taking office, I have worked diligently to maintain strong internal procedures to ensure taxpayer funds are securely held to be utilized in service to the people of Bay County. Further, I continue to be committed to working with all citizens struggling with delinquent taxes to explore every possible option for avoiding foreclosure. I believe all citizens deserve to be treated with respect, fairness and compassion, and that exercising these values is essential to effectively serving in the role of County Treasurer.
